So... I opened my Photoshop CS3 to start making some icons... but for some reason no matter what tool I choose (text tool, cropping tool) my cursor stays a hand (like the hand tool) and I can't make anything. I haven't had this problem before and I don't know if I managed to push something last time I used photoshop or if something else has happened. I did make a screen shot of my working area if you can spot something I done.

EDIT Re-starting the computer helped... but next time I'll try pressing the spacebar like some of you have suggested! THANKS!!!

Today was a much better day. The other work experience person decided to magnanimously give up his desk for me so that fr today he would be the unwanted floater. Wooohoo I thought. Not so. As soon as the publicity assistents realised that he was without a desk they bent over backwards to find him one. Do you know what they said to me yesterday? 'You need to find yourself a desk'. And off I had to trot, finding myself a desk so I could do free work for them.

It started off so good! I was having such a good time. I was doing all the work set to me quickly and efficiently. And I wasn't wasting time. I don't know what I did to make them dismiss me so quickly. And for this I took 2 weeks off work - I should have only taken off one. That way I would have enjoyed it and been able to write about it on my CV. But I only have one day left and I am going to try very hard not to complain about it any more. I should have acted differently - I don't know how but obviously something needs to change.

But I do have some better news (thankfully). I have read the best book EVER. And I mean that. All of you have to read this book.


I am also going to make my Ma read it, not that it will take much convincing. She wanted to read it first but I managed to sneak it away from her when she wasn't looking.

And tonight brand new QI starts!! Wooohoooo!!


This is a very, very old picture, since now Stephen Fry is half the man that he once was. He is so very thin now. And looking very good! They are talking about Gardens tonight and I am really looking forward to it. That always manages to cheer me up.

I got my GD concert ticket in the mail today!!!! After worrying about it for awhile (whether it would arrive in time, since I'm paranoid about stuff like that), I'm so so so happy it's here!

In case I never said, to get the ticket I used Reina's Korean Shopping Service. Reina was a delight. I'd recommend her to anyone!

So today we went to Taroko. It was... eventful. I hated it for awhile, but things turned out well. And it was SO BEAUTIFUL. And then we were all stranded on the side of the road in the dark waiting for a bus to possibly pass by. Did I mention THERE ARE BEARS IN TAROKO (though to be fair, they wouldn't attack me, and I'm not that scared of them)... Anyway, eventually a miracle taxi came by, and we got home. My Thanksgiving meal consisted of a large baguette, some inari sushi, and two large green ponkans.

We're not sure if we even want to try Sun Moon Lake. It's SO HARD to travel outside of the city here. Makes me never want to leave Taipei. But hell, I got some good pictures.

Taemin is diagnosed with swine flu?!!

And it never ends... SHINee's Taemin is the latest victim of the notorious swine flu.

Taemin was rushed to the hospital on the 25th after realizing a fever and on the 26th has been diagnosed to be H1N1 positive.

SM Entertainment stated:

"Taemin has been diagnosed with swine flu. We will cancel all of his scheduled events and he will take a rest."

Jonghyun and Onew have both recovered and now Taemin has fallen. SM Entertainment seems to be plagued with swine flu, as the three member of f(x) are also currently ill but recovering quickly.

I was about to make a mini-movie icon, then noticed that my screencaps were looking kind of pixelated and dithered. I thought I'd try my hand at cleaning it up, since I've never done image enhancement/restoration before. What methods are recommended? Every time I get told to use the smudge and clone tools, I make a total mess of everything.

And the other question is - does anyone know anything that could clean up all the screencaps at once? There are 47 frames I had ready for the icon and the thought of manually smudging/clone-stamping every one of them makes me kinda scared.

I'm using Photoshop 7.0 by the way. TIA.
